The Turkish "Galion" Energy Company announced, on Tuesday, the conclusion of an agreement to finance the largest solar power plant in the country and Europe (Karapınar plant).
The value of the solar power plant is valued at $812 million, over 12 years.The agreement was signed between "Galyon", which is building the "Karabenar" solar powerplant, the British Export Credit Agency "UKEF", "JP Morgan Chase", and 6 other Turkish banks, "Deniz" and "Granti BBVA", And "Esh", "Development and Investment", "Economic Development" and "Waqflar".A ceremony was held to sign the agreement, which was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the "Galion" Holding Group, the Consul General of the United Kingdom in Istanbul, as well as representatives of the signing banks.In a speech during the ceremony, Jamal Qalyongo, Chairman of the Administrative Board of "Galion", said that the latter, through the said financing agreement, secured an important resource for its huge project.He added that the mentioned financial resource is an indication of the confidence that foreign investors attach to the Turkish economy.Upon completion of the Qarabinar solar power plant, located in Konya, central Turkey, it is scheduled to provide electric power to two million people.The plant is the largest solar power plant in Turkey and Europe, and is comparable in area to 2,600 football fields, covering an area of 20 million square meters.
